Work from a safe, identified sample
Only authorised personnel should isolate and depressurise equipment using its approved maintenance procedure. Record the circuit reference, quantity and any routing changes. Do not infer the new assembly specification from damage, stretching or wear on an old hose.
Define the length reference
Write the length and unit on a drawing and mark exactly which points were measured. Overall length, cut-hose length and sealing-face-to-sealing-face length are different. Elbows and flange heads need a stated reference plane; an unlabelled number is not a manufacturing dimension.
Describe both ends separately
For End A and End B record thread form, size and pitch, sealing surface, fixed or swivel construction, and straight, 45-degree or 90-degree geometry. For flanges include the head dimensions and applicable series. Photographs support identification but do not replace critical dimensions.
Record angular orientation
Where both ends are bent, show their relative orientation with a sketch and a defined viewing direction. Mark which end is End A. Do not rely on an unspecified clock position or assume that apparently similar assemblies have the same end relationship.
Include the operating duty
Share the fluid, working pressure including known peaks, fluid and ambient temperature, movement, available bend space and protection requirements. Assembly suitability depends on the compatible hose-and-coupling system and the complete application.
