A request such as “1 inch R1 hose” or “half inch R2 hose” identifies part of the requirement. The exact manufacturer series and service conditions are needed to select the proposed hose.
Wire-Braid Hose Enquiries
For hydraulic pipe replacement enquiries, R1 / 1SN and R2 / 2SN are common purchasing descriptions for single- and double-wire-braid hose families. Include the full marking rather than treating every product with a similar description as interchangeable.
Spiral and Specialist Requirements
For R12, R13, R15, 4SP or 4SH enquiries, send the specified construction and exact series if known. Size ranges and ratings differ by product. Return, suction and other specialist duties need their own application review.
Bulk Hose or Complete Assembly
State whether you need hose by length or a finished assembly. Include quantity and units; finished assemblies also need both end interfaces, length, orientation and the approved coupling system.

These are common hydraulic hose nominal size descriptions, not a pressure chart or a list of items in stock. Pneumatic tube sizing may use outside diameter.
Questions Before You Enquire
What Pressure Can a Half-inch R2 Hose Take?
Use the working-pressure rating for the exact manufacturer series and nominal size, then confirm the complete assembly and application limits. A generic “R2” description is not a complete pressure specification.
Is a One-inch Hose the Same As a One-inch Fitting Thread?
No. Hose nominal inside diameter and connector thread size describe different dimensions. State both separately.
Can I Enquire About Parker, Danfoss, Polyhose or Other Hose Makes?
